Ingredients-

  • Maida (All purpose flour)- 500gms
  • Dry Yeast- 10 gms
  • Unsalted Butter-3 tbsp
  • Powdered Sugar/Castor Sugar- 4 tbsp
  • Warm Milk- 1 1/2 cup
  • Oil for frying
  • A pinch of salt
  • Chocolate- 150 gms
  • Sprikles- For Garnish

Method-

  1. In a bowl, add Maida, Sugar, salt, butter, Yeast. Mix it well.
  2. Using warm milk knead a soft dough (knead it for atleast 10 mins by adding small portions of warm milk, do not add the whole milk at one time).
  3. Apply 1 tbsp of oil on the dough, cover it up with a muslin cloth or a strainer and let it rest for atleast 2 hours.
  4. After 2 hours (when the dough has doubled in its size) take it out on the flour dusted kitchen table and punch it 4-5 times to release the air.
  5. Take a portion of the dough and roll it in the shape of a chapati (round). Thickness should be about 1/2 inch.
  6. With the help of a cookie cutter or bowl (katori) cut the donuts and for inner circle use a pet bottle cap (before cutting the donuts dap the cookie cutter in dry flour to avoid sticking). Repeat the process with the rest of the dough.
  7. Let the donuts rest for atleast 5 minutes.
  8. In a pan fry all the donuts on medium low flame until they turn light golden brown. Take them out once done.
  9.  In a double boiler melt the chocolate by continously stirring it.
  10. Once done dip the donuts in melted chocolate from one side (from the top). Cover all the donuts in the same way.
  11. Garnish the donuts with sprinkles.
  12. Your home-made donuts are ready. Enjoy!!
Notes:
* You can also use white chocolate inspite of using dark/brown chocolate.
* You can also use icing Sugar, Almond flakes or silver pearl candies as garnish.
